Middle Grade books are some of my favorite to read, both as an adult and, of course, with my kids. One of my favorite things is reading a middle grade book that I love and turning around to share it with my kids—and having them love it! Today I am sharing some of my favorite middle grade authors! Jennifer A. Neilsen Jennifer A. Neilsen is such a fun author for both kids and adults! We listened to her new release last year as a family on a roadtrip. My husband had to run into

My Middle Grade March TBR!
I am very excited for March and to participate in Middle Grade March again this year! It's one of my favorite reading challenges of the year. The Middle Grade age category has so many fun books included in it and there are a lot of great ones I'm looking forward to reading this year. To participate in Middle Grade March, all you need to do is read at least one middle grade book. That's it! If you want to do more, they also have a group read, some different categories to pick

Anne of Green Gables Readathon 2026!
In 2025, I did a personal readathon where I read all of the Little House on the Prairie books . I had read them as a child, but hadn't revisited most of them since then. It was delightful and I'm now rereading the series aloud with my kids--it's extra fun, as my four year old son is very into them. I had so much fun, I wanted to do something similar in 2026 and decided to read the entire Anne of Green Gables series! I have read Anne of Green Gables many times and have read a

My Favorite Genres to Read Each Month - Plus a Recommendation for Each Month!
When I was a teenager, I read voraciously and without any real pattern. There was a lot of organic discovery at the library, no tracking whatsoever (I'm still sad about all the books I read that I'll never remember and therefore never be able to mark on Goodreads), and so much rereading of my favorite books. As I've gotten back into reading as an adult and found bookish communities online, it's been delightful. Goodreads is amazing (and maddening), I have a bookish bullet jou

A new reading year! I always love looking ahead at what I might be reading in the coming year and one of my favorite ways to do that is to look at what new books are coming out. There are a lot of great new books slotted for publication in 2026 (as well as some books that came out in the last few months) that I'm really excited to read. Here are the new releases I am looking out for this year: 2025 There were a few new releases that came out last year that I haven't gotten t

My 2026 TBR - 33 Books I Plan to Read This Year!
After having my second child, I really got back into reading as an adult, but I felt like I'd run out of books. I was rereading Brandon Sanderson books and every once in a while, I'd find a gem at the library, but I was floudering. I asked my Facebook friends for suggestions and got a few good ones. A few months later, I joined BookTube. Now, three more kids and eight years later, I have so many books on my TBR that I could not possibly read them all in my lifetime. It's a pr

Books I Plan to Read with my Kids in 2026
One of my very favorite parts of parenting is reading aloud with my kids. I've loved it since my first was a baby (she loved to sit and be read to, even at a really young age!) and it's only gotten more fun as they've gotten older. I share books with my kids in two primary ways--I read out of a novel with them at bedtime for 20-30 minutes each night and we have a family audiobook that we listen to together (in the car, especially on long car trips, but also sometimes while co

My Top 10 Reads of 2025!
I cannot believe we are already five days into 2026! Last year went by so quickly, it feels like it just disappeare. I read some really great books in 2025 and it was hard to narrow down my favorites. To help me pick just ten (with a couple bonus!), I give myself some categories to pick from each year (like a favorite book that made me cry or a favorite new release). Here are my top 10 favorite reads of 2025: Favorite New Release Vera Wong's Guide to Snooping (on a Dead Man)

Our 2025 Christmas Countdown with Children's Books!
I love Christmas and am so excited that it is coming up! One of my favorite things to do this time of year is plan our family's annual countdown to Christmas. Each day between Thanksgiving and Christmas, I have our kids open a holiday-themed children's book. We read it together and do an activity (I like to have the activities and book correspond as often as possible). I have spent years building up our library of Christmas books. Thriftbooks has been one of my favorite websi

25+ Picture Books Perfect for Halloween!
When I get out our Halloween decorations, I also haul up our big pile of seasonal books to read throughout the month together. It's both my favorite thing and my kids' favorite thing! Today I am sharing some of our FAVORITE books to read at Halloween time! Goodnight Goon by Michael Rex We love G

15 Fun Halloween Books for Toddlers!
There is nothing I love more than reading holiday-themed books with my kids! Especially as fall comes and it means the start of the holiday season, there is something about pulling out holiday themed books and snuggling up on the couch together. It's especially fun with young toddlers and preschoolers, who are so excited about the upcoming holiday. A Parent's Favorite Read Alouds!
When I became a mom, I knew that I wanted to share my love of reading with my kids. I started off reading a lot to my firstborn and after having my second, I read the Read Aloud Handbook by Jim Trelease. That book only grew my passion of reading aloud. Sometimes, there are books my kids love that I have a harder time reading aloud and other times, I find a book that is an absolute joy no matter how many times my kids ask me to read it to them. Today I am sharing some of my FA
